11/16/2012 - 23rd Rieter Award Week in Switzerland

In September 2012, Rieter presented the Rieter Award for the 23rd time to students and young professionals in the sphere of textile technology. Five future textile specialists from China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Turkey were this year awarded with the coveted distinction. Again this year, the Award was combined with an invitation to Rieter’s headquarters in Switzerland.

In close cooperation with universities and professors worldwide, the Rieter Award Jury selected the winners 2012. The five winners 2012 are: Ms. Qi Xiao from China, Mr. Md Reajul Islam from Bangladesh, Ms. Arpita Kothari from India, Ms. Fitri Lestari from Indonesia and Ms. Cigdem Caliskan from Turkey.

Insights and Impressions

The varied program for the Award week gave the winners an insight into Rieter’s product range and production facilities. In addition, contacts in the Sales organization and in Management were established. After a tour of the Rieter headquarters in Winterthur, a discovery trip through Switzerland was made. Kick-off was a visit to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen followed by a visit to the Victorinox company, the world-famous producer of Swiss pocket knives. The Rieter Award group made a stop in Zurich and Lucerne, took the cable car up the Titlis (2 030 m above sea level) and visited the chocolate manufacturer Maestrani in Flawil where the winners could make their own Swiss chocolate.

Official Award Ceremony

In the presence of the Rieter regional sales managers, the Award winners were ceremonially honored and formally admitted to the Rieter Award Winners Club. The Hand-over of the Rieter Award, a Swiss mountain crystal, and the Award Certificate will take place at a second ceremony in the home country of the winner at their respective university.

The Rieter Award encourages young professionals

Since 1989, the Rieter Award has been bestowed annually on students and young professionals. With this attractive prize, Rieter encourages skilled youngsters and thereby supports the universities and institutes in their efforts to win excellent students for a vocational training in the field of textiles. Selection of the Rieter Award winners was carried out globally. Students and young professionals who have excelled themselves by well-founded work and great commitment in the field of textile engineering were selected.
