The separators

Most ends down occur in the  spinning triangle, since that is where very high forces act on a fiber bundle that is not yet fully integrated. If a break occurs, the yarn end that has now become free must be pulled to the  cop and wound onto it. On its way there the thread whirls around the  spindle. In the absence of a protective device the yarn would be flung into the neighboring balloon and that yarn would also be broken. This would be repeated continuously, resulting in serial ends down. In order to prevent this, aluminum or plastic separator plates are arranged between the individual spindles (Fig. 28).
