When a can is pushed out on the drawframe the end of the sliver must be positioned precisely at the front of the can lip. A suction arm on the operating robot grips the end of the sliver from the newly fed can and guides it between the intake roller and the feed table into the spinning box. Automated sliver piecing actually is not used frequently, as the investment cost for such devices are relatively high.
