Automatic Can Exchange at the Roving Frame

The automatic can exchange between the draw frame and the roving frame enables a fully continuous process without the need for manual handling of cans. This results in lower labor costs, consistently high yarn quality, and improved machine utilization.

To maintain uninterrupted production, the rear rows of the roving frame are automatically supplied with full cans and cleared of empty ones via a conveyor belt in combination with the automatic can transport system SERVOcan. This ensures a seamless flow of material between processes.

The system intelligently manages three row states:

  • active rows with full cans feeding the roving frame,
  • an idle row with empty cans, returned to the draw frame,
  • an idle row with full cans, supplied from the draw frame.

A single gate system manages both empty and full cans, supported by an integrated lifting device, which allows for a compact setup and reliable, smooth operation.

Higher Efficiency and Consistent Yarn Quality

This automated can exchange ensures uninterrupted production by providing a continuous supply of material and eliminating the need for manual handling of cans. It also guarantees reliable material handling, preventing mix-ups and enabling clear allocation of material. The stable and consistent material flow contributes to consistent yarn quality by reducing irregularities and avoiding process interruptions.

As a result, machine utilization is significantly increased, since stops are limited to essential piecing operations only. In addition, labor costs are reduced because manual transport and handling are no longer required. Overall, the automatic can exchange creates a well-coordinated material flow that minimizes downtime and stabilizes the entire spinning process.
