Rieter Comber E 86 Convinces in Direct Comparison at Biska Tekstil

Mill trials and direct comparisons at Biska Tekstil in Türkiye confirmed that the Rieter comber E 86 delivers outstanding flexibility and high yarn quality with flexible noil extraction levels. The mill achieved estimated savings of approximately USD 6 000 per year per comber.
Unlocking the Comber’s Full Potential
For Biska Tekstil, a spinning mill committed to quality, flexibility and continuous improvement, the goal was clear: ensure stable yarn quality, improve downstream performance and maximize the value of every kilogram of cotton. As the comber plays a key role in achieving these objectives, Biska installed a competitor's comber for a direct comparison with its existing Rieter E 86 combers. Initial results showed comparable yarn quality and fewer winding cuts on the competitor machine. However, the existing E 86 machines were not equipped with the latest original technological components and settings, making a targeted optimization essential before a meaningful comparison.
Original Components, Precisely Fine-Tuned
Rieter upgraded two E 86 machines at Biska with original technological components and fine-tuned them to the mill’s process parameters. Comparative trials were then conducted using the same feed laps for Ne 30 and Ne 40 yarns. The testing covered yarn evenness, imperfections, Classimat faults and winding cuts over more than 200 km.
Better Quality, Less Waste, More Savings
By upgrading the E 86 with original Rieter components and aligning the machine to the mill's process parameters, Biska was able to unlock the full performance potential of the comber, achieving higher productivity, improved quality and lower noil extraction.
Biska successfully uses the E 86 in two different operating modes, depending on production priorities:
- higher productivity at 525 nips/min while maintaining high yarn quality
- lower noil extraction at 500 nips/min with even better quality results
This flexibility allows the mill to select the operating point that best supports its production and raw-material strategy.
For Ne 30 yarn spun from 100% Brazilian cotton, the most advantageous operating point combined lower noil extraction with clear quality and winding performance benefits. Under identical mill conditions, the E 86 achieved a noil extraction level of 17.68%, compared to 18.68% on the competitor machine, while delivering superior overall results.
The lower noil extraction translates directly into more efficient cotton utilization, reduced waste and fewer winding interruptions. Based on the assumptions used for the trial evaluation, reducing noil extraction by one percentage point represents an estimated saving of approximately USD 6 000 per year per comber.*
* Calculation basis from the trial presentation: cotton CHF 1.70/kg, noil CHF 0.85/kg, conversion cost to comber CHF 0.13/kg and 8 640 operating hours/year. Actual savings depend on operating conditions, raw material prices and production. The data refers to the documented BISKA Tekstil mill trials conducted in February 2026.

The E 86 gives us the combination that matters most: better yarn quality, lower noil extraction and reliable performance. These results strengthen our efficiency and competitiveness in demanding yarn markets. The trial demonstrated how original Rieter components and the correct technological configuration help unlock the full performance potential of the machine.Oktay Bektaş, Mill Chief, Biska Tekstil
